Why You Feel Pressure to “Figure It Out” All at Once
May 22, 2026
This might sound familiar in a way that’s a bit hard to admit. I'm with ya here.
You’re not just trying to decide what to do next.
You’re trying to figure out:
- what you’re meant to do
- how everything fits together
- what direction actually makes sense
- and how to not have to redo all of this later
All at the same time.
And it’s exhausting.
Because every decision feels like it carries more weight than it should.

The Hidden Rule You Might Be Following
Most people don’t realize they’re doing this, but it’s incredibly common:
You’ve turned one decision into a final decision.
Not just:
“What should I try next?”
But:
“What should my life look like from here?”
So instead of choosing something to explore…
You feel like you’re choosing something to commit your identity to.
That’s a completely different level of pressure.

Why This Feels So Intense for You
If your brain naturally:
- sees multiple possible futures
- understands how decisions ripple outward
- wants things to feel aligned and meaningful
Then every choice feels like it matters a lot.
Because you’re not just choosing an action.
You’re imagining:
“What does this become?”
“What does this lead to?”
“Who does this turn me into?”
And suddenly a small step feels like a permanent path.
············································································································································
What’s Actually Happening
You’re collapsing time.
You’re trying to answer:
“What works right now?”
and
“What will work long-term?”
in the same moment.
But those are two different questions.
And they require different information.
············································································································································
Why Thinking Harder Doesn’t Solve It
This is where people get stuck.
You assume:
“If I just think this through enough, I’ll find the right answer.”
But the problem isn’t a lack of thinking.
It’s that you’re trying to solve something that can only be answered over time.
You can’t fully predict:
- what you’ll enjoy long-term
- what will grow with you
- what opportunities will come from it
So your brain keeps searching for certainty that doesn’t exist yet.
············································································································································
This might help:
Instead of asking:
“What should I commit to?”
Try:
“What is the next useful step?”
Not the perfect step.
Not the forever step.
Just the one that:
- teaches you something
- moves you slightly forward
- creates feedback
That’s it.
Instead of:
“I need to choose the right career path”
It becomes:
“I’m going to test this direction for a few weeks”
Instead of:
“I need to figure out my purpose”
It becomes:
“I’m going to follow what feels meaningful right now and see what builds”
You’re not lowering your standards.
You’re changing the time horizon.
············································································································································
You don’t need a life plan right now. 💛
You need a next step that creates clarity.
The rest builds from there. Isn't that amazing?
