Maybe You’re Not “All Over the Place.” Maybe You’re Just Interesting.

A colorful collage of diverse hobbies—books, instruments, tools, sketches—scattered confidently across a table, symbolizing intentional curiosity rather than chaos.

Let me suggest something mildly controversial.

Maybe the problem isn’t that you have too many interests.

Maybe the problem is that you live in a culture that worships specialization.

Somewhere along the way, “focus” became a moral virtue.

And “variety” became suspicious.

If you:

  • change directions

  • love learning new things

  • reinvent yourself every few years

  • get bored once you understand something

You’re labeled:

  • unfocused

  • flaky

  • distracted

  • unserious

But what if that’s just lazy interpretation? Stick with me for a sec.

The Quiet Myth You Inherited

You were taught that successful people:

  • pick early

  • stay consistent

  • double down

  • ignore distractions

But here’s what’s rarely acknowledged:

A lot of innovation comes from people who didn’t stay in one lane.

People who:

  • combined fields

  • crossed disciplines

  • refused to shrink their curiosity

And yet when you do it, you question yourself.

Why?

Because your growth doesn’t look tidy?

What If Your “Problem” Is Pattern Depth?

Maybe you’re not scattered.

Maybe you’re:

  • building lateral intelligence

  • collecting frameworks

  • learning how systems intersect

Maybe you don’t stick with things because you’re not meant to extract identity from one narrow source.

Maybe you’re meant to synthesize.

The Rebellion (Soft, But Real)

You’re allowed to:

  • outgrow things

  • pivot

  • study something deeply and then leave it

  • follow energy instead of optics

Not recklessly.
Not impulsively.
But intentionally.

You don’t have to earn credibility through narrowness.

You’re allowed to be complex.

And complex people don’t fit in clean sentences.

 They change the world.

Hi there, I'm Monterey!

I’m a multipassionate mentor and course creator who helps creatives, dreamers, and “I-have-50-tabs-open-in-my-brain” people build lives and businesses that finally fit them.

For the last decade, I’ve been studying, testing, breaking, rebuilding, and refining systems that help multipassionates focus, follow through, and turn their ideas into real, sustainable wins. I’ve walked through the overwhelm, the burnout, the “maybe I’m just not built for this” spiral — and I learned how to turn my many passions into a strength instead of a stumbling block.

I’ve had plenty of entrepreneurial flops (the kind that didn’t light up the world, just my credit card). But those experiences helped me understand how I actually operate. Once I cracked the code on my rhythm, everything shifted — and now my work is helping others do the same with far less trial and error.

If you’re building a life that can hold all of who you are, you’re in the right place.
